July 17, 2000 Intention + Attention = Miracles This
is the classic formula for spontaneous success....
You know, the kind of achievement of goals that seems nearly mixed with magic.
Like that time you knew you needed a special widget to use with your gadget; then you
bumped into an old classmate in the grocery who makes exactly that! Or the time you
thought about going to Hawaii, and next thing you knew, your company offered a trip there
as a sales incentive. Or the time you thought about someone and a moment later, over the
phone line comes the desired voice...
These things seem miraculous, personal, magic. Actually, coincidences like this
are indeed happening all the time, just usually not attached to anything that has any real
meaning to us, so we sometimes miss them. If you choose to consciously utilize the formula
above, you will activate your awareness of miracles, and open to the power to make your
goals come true.
Intention is defined as a plan, or the aim of a plan. In other words, it is a
specific goal. Intention can include material things, but at it's core usually consists of
emotional states. For instance: we can intend to be helpful, intend to win a game,
intend to own a Porshe. Each of these things has at it's core a specific feeling-state
associated with attaining the goal. Knowing this state when you are clarifying your
Intention super-charges it's power. It also makes its realization faster and more
fulfilling, because you recognize the miracle more readily.
Attention refers to consistent remembrance, and action taken on your goal's
behalf. Examples of Attention include writing your intention, telling another person your
goal, or taking the ever-powerful first step of action. The key to upping the power of
Attention lies in maximizing your physical involvement. So, writing your intention carries
a certain amount of physical juice, declaring it in front of a group still more juice, and
running around the block in preparation for your first marathon has even more!
The key to super-charging your Attention lies in utilizing as many aspects
of your being as you can in relation to your intention. (note: the actions don't have
to be rational, just as long as you maximize your involvement.)
So what do you get when you super-charge your Intention and Attention?
Something of awe or wonder, inexplicable by the laws of nature: a
miracle. And yes, you can actually expect them! Just realize that
"inexplicable" will remain a part of its nature. That is to say, we can talk
about the law of miracles, but we cannot plan exactly how a miracle will transpire. What
happens between your Intention + Attention, and the realization of your goal is the
coincidence, the mind-blower, the magic of this pattern. So take charge of your
Intention, super-charge you Attention, and recognize the answer to your aim when it comes
to astonish you!
What's the miracle you want to make today?

July 25, 2000 Instant
Messaging
Imagine for a moment that you have constant access to your own healthy sort of internal
messaging system. It is simple to use, and gives answers to any questions you have about
your life. The direction it offers always leads you to success and fulfillment. It is
portable, discreet, and easy to use.
What's more, is that you are under no obligation to heed its advice, even though it
stands only for your best interest. Acting contrary to its suggestions promises no doom,
merely limited success. All disclosure is poised in positive terms. Negative events are
indicated only by the positive action you can take to avoid them ("drive slow
here"). Your free will is exercised by its presence, and you are often
surprised by its quirky advice and good humor. The messages come to you only in a way that
you clearly understand. You can shut it off when you want to, and turn it back on at will
too.
Say you have this messaging available to you right this moment, and for the next hour
you can ask any questions that you want about your life. The answers are forthcoming.
Take a moment now to jot down the first 3 questions you would really want to
have answered... Do you have 7 more questions? 17? 27? Give yourself
pause to get a real count. (Are you still sure you are not comfortable with lots of
uncertainty?!)
Now take a moment to write down one mode of communication that you consistently
understand: it might be English, or pictures; maybe symbols, or sensations, or stories. It
may be something apart from any traditional mode of communication... whatever it is that
makes you always "get it!"
What do you think you are being led to here? If the method is transparent enough,
I hope you see that there are specific ways that you are open to receive messages. This
is where you need to look for clues as to your next direction, action or response.
There is always at least one way that every person believes important messages can
come to them. Big voices from the sky is a perennial favorite (albeit embarrassing
to shy folks), as is the getting "in the zone," gut feeling, intuition, and
signs & symbols. Dreams are another favorite mode for those expecting to sleep through
the answer. Sometimes people call this messaging 'intuition', 'higher self', 'spiritual
guidance', or 'knowing.'
What do you call it?
When will you call it?

And yes, they do cost your time--but what were you saving that for anyway?!
1. Lying in the grass
...and shifting position so that the dips in the ground match the curves of your back.
2. Reading aloud
...to yourself and a dear companion. Poetry is perfect, and your pet loves it too.
3. A dip in the tub
...with soft music and warm lighting. Or try two toes in the ocean, or a rest in the
rain. Let water wash your state of being, and then try...
4. Eating outdoors
...no matter the weather. If it is warm, pack a picnic; if it is chilly, pack a snow
cone.
5. Cloud counting
...or naming, or evaporating, creating or....
6. Library lounging
...and make it of import to see what really appeals to the leisure-loving you.
7. Make yourself a gift - of time - certificate
...so, you remembered today that This is your life. How about insuring that you do
tomorrow as well?
8. Daydream
...forever a classic. Just what could an afternoon of powerfully personal &
positive thinking do for you?
9. A simple ritual
...a conscious cup of tea at the end of your day, or deep-breathe for peace. Or maybe a
penny in a jar for your every pleasant thought...
10. A stroll in the sun
...or a saunter, or stillness. Notice how your every sense perceives the day, and the
gratitude you feel for living it.

These are surefire brakes to slow down an experience of a wonderfully expansive life
and unbounded freedom. Use with caution, or refuse with great faith.
1. beliefs about life
whether you believe that life is "a struggle" or a "bowl of
cherries," your notion of what life is limits your perception of it.
2. unhealthy relationships
Who supports your own best decisions? Who encourages you to doubt yourself? Look
closely for clues, and draw boundaries accordingly.
3. the desire to be right
means only more of the same has a place in your brain. Why not expand to allow a little
wrongness for spice?
4. a sense of linear time
can't you relive your first kiss? or imagine your retirement anytime? When really is
Now, if what you are actually experiencing is then?
5. identifying oneself as being a body
If you can HAVE a body, who is the YOU?!
6. behavior that clogs your bloodstream, colon, lungs, etc.
If life is all about flow, why do things that clog up these simple systems?
7. an unexamined life, mind, emotion, or motion
As Socrates said: if it's unexamined, it isn't worth living.
8. poverty, hunger, disease, and the like
not because these things have the power to stop us from really enjoying our lives, but
because many of us thought that they could.
9. unfinished business
especially the personal sort. One 'cliffhanger' can hold you up emotionally for longer
than a TV season.
10. addiction
like number 8 above, addiction limits your liberation only to the degree you believe
that it will. Hey, to see a pattern, don't you have to already be above it?

August 2, 2000 What world do you walk in?
Subtitle: The Sensory Gate
Someone asked me today how I changed from being a consumer in a consumer's world to
being myself in an authentic way. It was a great question, and I realized that the answer
may have relevance to you too.
I decided several years ago to immerse my senses in those things that were of the
"world" I wanted to walk in. So instead of watching soap operas, I read
self-help literature. Instead of hanging around victim-thinking people, I hung around with
players. I actively looked for beauty and saw it even in painful places. I decided that I
wanted every bit of "data" going into me to be related to the life that I wanted
to have. I hoped that in time, immersion alone would bring me to have the experience of an
easier, more loving life.
It has. And now I rarely watch TV or allow advertisements to enter my mental space. I
don't engage with 'victim talk", unless someone seeks a way of empowerment. I
do more for my community, and feel more compassion to those feeling trapped in an
unfavorable place. I love more deeply people living in all worlds, and hopefully
will develop the benefits of mine. I wouldn't go back to experiencing just any old
"world" and accept the culture that is prevalent there. I decided that my senses
serve as gatekeepers to the infinite experiences of life we can have, and am glad
I chose to filter consciously.
...And so can you. What I want for you now, is to determine the kind of world you
want to walk in. You could be an A+ player in a
high-stakes game, or a believer in a world of doubt. You could be an artist in a hungry
place, or bringer of humor to a world too serious. You could be of service to a world of
fashion models, or useful in a world of saints. You can exist daily in a beautiful world
of nature, or live powerless in a nightly-news world of violence.
The question is, what world do you want, and who do you want to be in it?
You choose, you've got the sensory gate. And if you think there is one objective 'Real
World' that we all share than I recommend you discover it for yourself, stand up and act
in it, and notice over time the material results...
